OCTOBER 2011: “What, Me Worry?”

(NOTE: Newcomers, who would like to get an idea of what this site is all about, would be well-advised to click on "2005 Pages" and read that introduction. Enjoy!)

I never feel the need to defend myself, but that doesn't mean I can't experience a tingle of validation whenever I stumble across a fellow armchair traveler. (And it doesn't hurt to have some heavies in your corner when mounting an excuse...)
For instance, take this quote from Soren Kierkegaard: "Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good."
I should revisit some of his writings...nah.
I also appreciate this astute observation from the ultimate wit, Oscar Wilde: "The exquisite art of idleness, one of the most important things that any University can teach."
Here's one I keep for explaining myself to TC: "A man is not idle because he is absorbed. There is visible labor and there is invisible labor."—Victor Hugo
It also helps that all these guys are dead: no one can ask them to expand on these themes. Besides, Robert Louis Stevenson said, "To be idle requires a strong sense of personal identity." And I really, really identify with myself...
So, when all is said and done, I wile away the hours in an obscure pursuit of self, free from the harsh glare of expectations...in case you were wondering how I spend my time. (I've also had this file of quotes in my writing folder for years; I didn't want to just trash it...)
All righty then, shall we take a peek at this week's photo galleries? There's only two. (Try to contain your elation, all right?)

I think it was August when some foolhardy...er, I mean hardy Altoids set sail on a whale-watching excursion (just what is it whales do that requires so much monitoring?).
At any rate, Peter and TC took the pictures that compose our first photo gallery. So, now is the time for all good people to click on the image and:

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

Hey, I can't be good all the time...

At any rate, and like I said, there are only two this month (we just havent' been taking that many pictures in all this rainy weather), so here is October's Casa Ingaso Gallery.
It's an eclectic mix of photos, padded with lots of kitty shots to make it seem worthwhile...
That picture to the right is a make-up photo, atoning for an oversight on my part; although I'm sure TC couldn't care less. Still, in my dotage, I'm trying to be a more fair and balanced reporter of our affairs here in Altos. (I know, weird, ain't it.)

There, that wasn't so bad, was it? This update has to have been the quickest in-n-out ever. If you blinked, you missed it. Which means you were one of the lucky ones...

“¡Hasta el día otro, compadres!”
