Along the lines of permaculture, TC found information about building a keyhole garden, and this is it in our kitchen garden. The idea is, you drop all your garbage into the branch-lined hole in the middle, it composts and feeds the soil surrounding it. Then, because the garden is about three feet off the ground, it's easy to plant, tend and harvest vegetables and herbs.
