After hopping their way down the west coast of Mexico, staying in towns near airstrips along the way, they stopped in Guatemala. There, one of their side trips was a visit to the incredible Mayan step pyramids at Tikal, ruins that jut up from the thick jungle and lowland rainforest like ancient guardians.
